Miami, FL, Internet Personality DeenTheGreat Hit With Felony Robbery Charge Over Yacht Dispute

Popular internet personality DeenTheGreat, whose legal name is Nurideen Shabazz, is now facing serious legal trouble after Miami prosecutors filed felony robbery and misdemeanor battery charges against him.

The charges stem from an alleged confrontation aboard a yacht back in May, and if he is convicted on the felony count, he could be sentenced to as much as 15 years behind bars.

What Allegedly Happened on the Yacht

According to court documents, the incident began after a verbal disagreement between Shabazz and a woman who was on the boat with him.

She later told police that he became upset when other men aboard the yacht started talking to her, despite him previously telling her not to engage with anyone else. The woman claims that he forced her off the vessel as a result.

Things reportedly escalated further when the woman tried to record the interaction on her phone. She alleges that Shabazz grabbed her arm in an attempt to stop her from filming and that a struggle broke out as he tried to take the phone away from her.

During the altercation, she says she ended up with a small scratch on her forearm and was seen crouching down while trying to protect herself and get away from him.

The yacht’s owner reportedly cooperated with investigators and handed over surveillance footage from the vessel. That footage allegedly backs up much of what the woman described, showing physical contact between the two and a visible struggle over the phone as she tried to pull away.

Police Were Waiting When the Yacht Returned

Officers reportedly met the yacht at the dock once it returned to shore, with Shabazz still on board. When questioned, he apparently gave police an account of the night that didn’t line up with what investigators had already seen on the security video, a discrepancy that may have contributed to the severity of the charges filed against him.

Shabazz’s attorney, Richard Cooper, has pushed back on the case, stating publicly that he expects the charges to be dropped by prosecutors soon and that a resolution could come as early as next week. For now, though, Shabazz is contending with a felony charge that carries significant prison time under Florida law.

This case adds to a rough stretch for people connected to Shabazz’s streaming circle, as his streaming partner Adrien Broner was recently named in a separate lawsuit alleging sexual battery. As with any pending criminal case, the charges against Shabazz remain allegations at this stage, and the matter is still working its way through the Miami court system.
