Shake Shack Expansion Continues: New Locations Hit Texas, Colorado, Virginia, and More

August 13, 2026 Shake Shack opening new locations

Shake Shack is having one of its busiest months yet, with 11 new restaurants opening across the country in August. Four of those locations opened on the same day this week, spreading across four different states.

The fast casual chain, known for its Angus beef burgers, crinkle cut fries and creative milkshake flavors, continues to grow at a rapid pace as it works toward a long-term goal of operating at least 1,500 restaurants nationwide.

Four Openings on the Same Day

On Wednesday, August 12, Shake Shack opened four new locations at once, each one marking a milestone for its home state.

The new restaurants opened in:

Highland Village, Texas, at 4000 Waller Creek, becoming the company’s 33rd Texas location

La Quinta, California, at 78 772 Highway 111, marking its 54th California store

Parker, Colorado, at 9185 Crown Crest Blvd., the 15th Shake Shack in the state

Sterling, Virginia, at 20961 South Bank St., which holds a special distinction as the state’s very first Shake Shack with a drive-thru

That Virginia opening is a notable one for fans who have wanted a faster, no-line option for their burger and shake fix.

These four locations follow two earlier August debuts, with a restaurant opening in Elk Grove, California on August 5, and another in Albany, New York on August 6.

More Locations Coming Before Summer Ends

Shake Shack isn’t done yet. The company says more restaurants are on the way before August wraps up, with new locations planned for:

Atlanta, Georgia

Doral, Florida

Indianapolis, Indiana

Orlando, Florida

Tucson, Arizona

Exact opening dates for these five cities have not been released yet, though USA Today has reached out to Shake Shack for more details on the full August rollout.

For those unfamiliar with the brand, Shake Shack has built a loyal following thanks to its 100 percent Angus beef burgers, signature crinkle fries and rotating milkshake menu. Recent standout flavors include the Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake and the Biscoff Cookie Butter Tiramisu Shake, both of which have drawn attention on social media for their indulgent, dessert-inspired taste.

The chain also caters to customers looking for lighter or bread-free options, offering chicken breast and beef patties wrapped in lettuce instead of a traditional bun.

With locations already spanning dozens of states, this August expansion pushes Shake Shack even closer to its goal of 1,500 restaurants. Whether it’s the new drive-thru in Virginia or the upcoming spots in Georgia, Florida, Indiana and Arizona, the brand shows no signs of slowing down its growth this year.

Customers curious about a new location nearby can check Shake Shack’s website for updates as more opening dates are confirmed throughout the rest of the month.
